Meet The Boulder Team
Austin Smith
Owner
Austin Campion Smith started Boulder Design as a young entrepreneur after graduating from McMaster University. A born leader, Canadian athletics three-time medalist, and winner of the coveted Dr. Ray Johnson award, Austin has demonstrated character, dedication and leadership; skills he draws upon as Boulder Design’s owner. When not serving customers in Ontario, Austin likes to give back and provides his skill to a medical revitalization project in West Africa.
Brett Tonin
Lead Designer & Project Manager
Brett is a Landscape Architect with six years of experience in award winning landscape architecture firms; designing high-end residential, green-roof amenity spaces, recreational parks, and so on. His enthusiasm and passion for designing beautiful spaces will instill a confidence in our clients that their landscape is more than an escape, but a quality investment.
Andrew Kotulak
Pool Specialist
Known as the “pool king”, Andrew brings 17 years of hard-earned experience in the pool industry and a wealth of knowledge about pools to the Boulder Design team. He’s your expert in pool construction, installation, maintenance, liners, equipment, and service – the whole deal! You can count on Andrew to know the answer to all your pool questions and help our team work with you to select the best pool to suit your backyard and make your pool dreams come true.
Ryan Mccullough
Foreman
Ryan is our most experienced foreman on the roster. With years of experience in the industry and countless pool and patio jobs under his belt, there is no job too big for Ryan. He has proven his expertise in seeing a project through from beginning to end with incredible efficiency, quality workmanship, and attention to detail. A hard worker, skilled operator, and team player, Ryan has an amazing “get the job done” attitude, as well as being a great family man. Ryan is married with three beautiful children and loves spending time with his girls.
Joel Bosscher
Landscape Foreman
A veteran landscaper, Joel began his career as a Lead Hand with the Boulder Design team and worked his way to Foreman overseeing the crew. A wizard on all machines, Joel is able to visualize, design, and build any project thrown at him. He is committed to ensuring your project is completed with efficiency, accuracy, and attention to all those details that really matter, resulting in a great customer experience.
Gideon Nijenhus
Crew Leader
Standing 6’6” tall, Gideon is not only our tallest team member, he’s also the strongest man on the job with the strength to carry just about anything! Young, motivated, and passionate about landscaping, Gideon continues to demonstrate a great ‘can do’ attitude in getting the job done.
Myles Hofsink
Labourer
Myles is the youngest member of the team. Although a summer student, Myles performs like a veteran. We’re glad he’s returned for another summer. One of the hardest working guys on the team, Myles is young, driven, and eager to learn and grow within the company.
Quinten Heath
Labourer
Quinten has had a shovel in his hand since he was a young boy. A smart, well educated young man now, Quinten is responsible for many different roles on the Boulder team. Digging pools, building patios, and constructing pergolas, he can do it all. He has the knowledge, drive and experience to problem solve quickly on the job site and provide innovative solutions for the team. Quinten is also a fantastic welder and enjoys working on machines in his spare time.
